Lee Wynn Trail Creek Bank Stabilization
St. Louis, MO
This $675,000 emergency repair project addressed three slide failures along the Lee Wynn Trail beside Black Creek. Severe erosion from a recent wet weather event caused significant creek bank collapse, resulting in trail damage. Castle’s scope included stabilizing the slope's toe to meet USACE safety standards. Partnering with a geotechnical vendor, Castle implemented a ScourLok basket solution, ensuring a durable repair. The work involved removing 530 linear feet of damaged asphalt trail, installing a concrete trail and curb, adding pedestrian amenities, and replacing fencing and rock.
During construction, an additional slide failure was discovered. In collaboration with the city of Brentwood and a geotechnical engineer, Castle extended the ScourLok system, achieving a cost-effective, stabilized solution.
