Tilden Solar
Tilden, IL
Located in Randolph County, IL, this 182 MW solar field sets a historic milestone as the first development of its kind in the area. Designed to increase the county’s tax-income revenue, The Tilden Solar Project is set to revitalize the economic development for surrounding community and establish access to sustainable energy.
As a "brownfield" site—a development constructed on top of an abandoned coal mine—this project also required thoughtful planning to ensure the safety of construction crews, residents and the environment. In addition to constructing 35 sediment basins and 36,000 ft of new roadways, Castle's also crew performed 150,000 cy of grading, 62,000 ft of trenching and 3,500 ft of directional boring, while maintaining brownfield site construction best practices.
